Don Don Carnival 2018

Every year in October, Komatsu holds the Don Don Carnival. This year, it will be a 2-day affair, with the first day being a traditional Japanese parade and dance, and the second day featuring stage performances and food booth as well as plenty of interesting activities.

The following processions will make their way from the venue towards the front of the station.

Purification Ceremony
Watch a traditional purification ceremony conducted at the Shrine before the parade begins.

Historical Parade
Massive Lantern Procession
The procession will make their way from the Shrine, across Komatsu Ohashi, and straight down National Route 101.

Minature Hikiyama Procession with the Teramachi and Yokaichi-machi Children Performers
The procession will make their way from the Rojo Park till Komatsu Station Square.

A crazy amount of things are happening this round! In addition to the Don Don Carnival, there will also be the Kabuki Market and Hokkoku Toori-Machi Market as well!

1. Stage A

Located within the Komatsu Station Square, Stage A is one of 3 different performance areas.

Take your time to admire the lanterns used in the procession on Saturday! Located in Komatsu Station Square.

Enjoy this concert put on by the various concert bands within Komatsu! Located with the Main Hall of Urara Theater.

Ever tried a Sencha Tea based Tea “Ceremony” before? Instead of using Matcha, this style of tea uses a good quality leaf infusion tea, and is served with a traditional Japanese sweet.

6. Gourmet Alley

From Soba to Sushi, there is a huge variety of foods to try here! Find it along the West Exit in front of Komatsu Station

Running through the Covered Shopping District close to Komatsu Station is a variety of additional events to enjoy!

Date: 14th Oct Only! From 10:00 – 17:00

Find the music stage to watch some wonderful lives and discover new local artistes. Try out some local delights or find the international corner to sample what the world has to offer! Dig through the many shops sellling a variety of different items, or even participate in a Calligraphy or Flower Arrangement class.




Hokkoku Toori-Machi Market

Located along Ryusuke-cho, a huge variety of sweet shops and cafes are opening booths selling a variety of drinks, desserts and dishes! Find a lovely range of old books and accessories in the market section too!

This year the neighborhood has also taken out their gorgeous Hikiyama float for visitors to admire!
